Astoria, Oregon, near the mouth of the Columbia River. The oldest city in the Pacific Northwest, named for John Jacob Astor, whose American Fur Company founded Fort Astoria on this site in 1811. Lewis and Clark ended the western leg of their voyage of discovery here in the winter of 1806-6.
